Quilt Binding

Quilt Binding: how to make it and attach it.  This is a skill building class.

Binding is the final stage in the quilt making process.  In this class you will learn how to calculate how much binding you need, how to make the binding, and how to attach the binding to a quilt sandwich (quilt top, batting, and backing).

Materials List
1/4 yard of fabric for binding
1 - 12" x 12" quilt sandwich
Thread that matches binding fabric

Supply List
Hand Sewing needle
Rotary cutter
6 1/2" x 24" acrylic quilt ruler
Optional: walking foot

Please prepare your quilt sandwich before class.

The quilt sandwich is made up of two 12"x12" squares of fabric (for the top and bottom), with a 12"x12" square of batting in between.  The sandwich can be glue basted or pin basted together.  The quilt sandwich is what you will use to attach the binding you make in class to learn the techniques.

Everyone is welcome to use one of our sewing machines for class, for which we will provide a walking foot.  If you would like to use your own sewing machine, it is optional (but highly recommended) to bring your own walking foot.

Please bring a basic sewing kit with scissors or rotary cutter with acrylic quilt ruler, pins, snips, and a seam ripper.
